always wanted to try croffles and these were SOLID

so many things about this place just reminded me of how #cafehopping was before cafe culture blew up: cute minimal spaces, hearty food and most of all — warm, homely service 🌥️ in a way, this spot really lived up to its name: as an o happi place!

if you’re down for a no pressure, comfortable experience - then o happi place is it for you. the owners were really friendly and created this homely, patient vibe which was nice for a change - compared to its busy and crowded counterparts in the area.

since it’s predominantly a gelato spot, the coffee choices weren’t broad — but they had everything you’d possibly need for a caffeine fix! ☕️ if you’d like a slow start, they also have matcha and lemon tea 🍋 the coffee kind of tasted like the vibe of the cafe: mellow but with a tiny kick that just does the trick

while i’ve heard loads about the gelato flavours available here, we settled for croffles 🧇 because the cravings had to be satisfied! there’s a choice from three different savoury waffles/croffles, so we got the bacon of light croffle ($14.9) 🥓 which is basically like a bacon burger but in croffle form 🤤 you’ll get two croffles with bacon, melted cheese and a house sauce in between.

the croffles alone were just alright for me, pretty doughy but wasn’t as chewy as i expected. the bacon was okay too - well fried and fragrant. but what really sealed the deal for me was the cheese and sauce 🧀 — and how it gelled everything together! eating a bit of everything in every bite was really quite satisfying.

the serving size is just right if you have a good appetite, might be a bit large if you eat less usually — so i’d recommend probably getting this to share 🫣

when we were about to leave, it started pouring — so we were essentially kinda stuck since everton’s shelter is sometimes a tad limited. the owners were kind enough to offer everyone biscuits and water because they knew we would have to stay a little longer to tide off the rain 🥺 it was a small gesture but made us feel so warm ngl.

overall, i’m definitely sold on the croffles - they didn’t blow my mind yes, but the overall experience was a pleasant one that got my heart! i’ll be back to try their gelato next time 🤍
