hello & happy thurslay 🤧 back at it again with some food recommendations from across the causeway - at this rate i’ve literally reviewed almost every restaurant in bukit indah 🤡 but hear me out: it’s not everyday that you can find a solid japanese feast for 3 people at less than $50 😫 but you can here at kinsahi — and get decently good food at that!

📍 Lot F09, Aeon Bukit Indah Shopping Centre No, 8, Jalan Indah 15/2, Taman Bukit Indah, 81200 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia

📆 Mon - Thur, Sat - Sun: 1030am - 8am, Friday 1030am - 930pm

so the thing about kinsahi is it wasn’t always amazing 😦 i remember having a meal here before a few years back and being extremely confused about what i was eating. it didn’t help that the interior was really dark and cramped back then, truly was #NotForMe 💀 but they recently renovated their space and revamped their menu, so we decided to give it a second chance!

the space is much brighter and definitely more comfortable now — and we LOVE the variety on the menu 👀 ranging from donburi to sets and even chirashi, there’s really something for everyone. not to mention the prices are extremely friendly too (i mean a chirashi don at RM30 is less than $10??) 🧠

though the only bummer was really the service 😩 at a glance, you’d think they’re kinda over staffed - but when you try to call them to order you’ll realise that not only are they over staffed, but they’re all focusing on the wrong things 😳 like having two staff to prep ingredients when it was after peak whilst ignoring customers calling them just ain’t it…

ok but once you manage to get your order in i think it’s mostly worth the wait & struggle 🥵 we got a main each and also threw in some sides to get that ✨ feast experience ✨:

- mini donburi 🍛: mini una don + mini udon + salad

- wafu fruit karaage set 🥘: served w/ rice and fresh fruit

- chirashi butsu don 🍣: served with soup

- tofu miso yaki 🧈: must-try tofu with cheese+miso atop

- kuro goma dango 🍡: if you love sesame this is IT

- taro balls 🍠: super chewy & QQ la damn satisfying

everything was really satisfying and well-balanced - i really liked how they paired the mains with different sides to make sure you’re getting a whole meal? and i’d say that for the variation in dishes you’re getting, the quality was quite consistent! 🥨

my personal favourite was the mini donburi for sure since you’re getting the best of both worlds in small tasting sizes - without feeling jelat or sick of a single dish (if you’re like me and can’t decide… 🥐)

so overall this is a big yes from me but ALSO if you do come to kinsahi, take this final piece of advice from me and avoid their drinks 🥶 a place can’t be good at everything and yes their drinks aren’t amazing…
