The Back Room

The Back Room is my favorite speakeasy in NYC, and it is an original speakeasy from the Prohibition days. The drinks are served in mugs and you can easily miss it if you aren’t paying attention. Look for the Lower East Side Toy Company sign, go through the gate, down the stairs, up, through the alley, and you’ll see the door. Enjoy partying like it’s the 1920s!

Paper Planes

On the outside, it’s a ramen shop, but follow the paper planes hanging from the ceiling and you’ll end up in Paper Planes! A super nice and chill bar with good vibes for hanging with friends. Great, reasonably priced (for NYC standards) cocktails as well.

Mochi Dolci

Mochi Dolci is really a mochi donut shop, but if you head to the telephone booth in the back, you’ll find a speakeasy called 222! It’s super new, and usually available for walk ins. They have boba-themed drinks, including a boozy bubble tea. The crowd is older, since the bar is on the UWS. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area!
