The best way to build abs is using weights, just like any other muscle! Do this workout 2-3x per week:
Weighted plank: (hold as long as possible)
- Start on your knees, and put the weight on your back
- Carefully enter a plank position - don't let your core twist so that the weight can stay on
- Squeeze your abs upward and back flat
Weighted toe touches: (15-20 reps)
- Lay on your back, with legs in the air
- Push the weight upward towards your feet, using your abs to squeeze you up (not using your arms for momentum)
- The key is to round your back, which will challenge your abs
Weighted in & outs: (10-15 reps)
- Start with a weight on your shins, in a tabletop position
- Extend your body fully straight, with the weight on your shins
- Your arms should extend fully behind your head
- Crunch your legs back in again
