Our pineapple was removed?!

I kid you not when I said we were Kiasu because we consolidated everything we could find on the internet about house opening into our own guide 😂

The very first thing to do is to 📆 Select a date where it’s auspicious. We used one of those online Chinese calendar app which would suggest dates suitable for “Residence Relocation”.

The next was to prep for the necessaries (Fruits, Coins, Mixture of Tea Leaves etc). We also bought/brought our camping chairs and portable fans because you are going to need it!

As we did not had any red trays, we customised our own using cardboard boxes and red paper! It all worked out and the box looked way better than I had expected it to be! The box however turned out way bigger than I expected and to be frank, I was quite embarrassed to be seen by the neighbours…

For those whom need good phrases while entering the house, you can refer to our list below. We said everything simply because we are kiasu and everything is important/relevant to us!!

The entire “ceremony” took about 10-15 mins! We left everything untouched and went back 1 week later to clear the fruits and huat kueh. We also:

✔️ Found a spot to “plant” our pineapple to represent continuation of prosperity (Preferably under the tree but we had not much trees given it’s a brand new estate. We later went back 1 week later and our pineapple was gone…)

✔️Use the money inside the red packet to buy something sweet to symbolise ever-lasting love and happiness!
