june coffee | beautiful interior, delicious drinks

June Coffee is the recent addition to Joo Chiat’s long line of beautiful, pricey cafes. but by far, it’s one of the best ones already.

as an eastie, i’ve tried a lot of the cafes here: neptune, plain vanilla, mod cafe… but june coffee has THE best drinks i’ve had here. for a second i thought i was back in korea, because the drinks were such a hit and so beautiful, unlike anything i’ve had in singapore.

for starters..

(1) matcha strawberry latte - 8.80 nett

was by far my favourite. rich and creamy, the matcha foam is frothed to perfection and the addition of strawberry was incredibly refreshing, adding a subtle complexity to the drink that doesn’t overpower the matcha.

(2) jasmine strawberry - 7.70 nett

also ordered was the jasmine strawberry tea which contained strawberry chunks and was so beautiful and refreshing.

however, the food is a letdown for the price, my friend @alanis 𐙚 ordered the vongole and the pasta tasted sort of rubbery (?) the texture is definitely weird and should not have cost that much ($22++) the truffle fries’ portion for $8.8 nett is pretty terrible as well.

in my humble opinion.. u should grab your drinks here because while they are indeed pricey, it’s 100% worth it. after, you can head down to 328 katong laksa and get some affordable, delicious laska. then if you’re in the mood for desserts, plain vanilla has a wide variety of great pastries, especially their cupcakes.
