I have traveled to 36 countries, and while most of those are cheaper than my home country of the US, some of them are definitely more affordable than others.

For people traveling on a budget, or for those that simply don't wish to shell out their life savings to have a proper vacation, it's all about choosing the right location, location, location.

Here is a list of the 5 MOST AFFORDABLE countries that I have visited, where my dollars went the furthest:

1. Vietnam - Coming in at number one, we found 5 star hotels under $100/night and most street food meals cost us less than $1.

2. Thailand - Close behind is Thailand, where we felt overall value was slightly higher than Vietnam despite prices being marginally higher.

3. Indonesia - Another southeast Asia hotspot, places like Bali have increased in price but are still deeply affordable.

4. Türkiye - Vibrant cities like Istanbul and dreamy landscapes in Cappadocia offer incredible bang for the buck.

5. Hungary - Perhaps the most affordable country in Europe! Most meals cost less than $10 and wine was often $2-3.
