How to make Osmanthus Rice Wine Glutinous Rice Balls?

Ingredients:

• 1 cup glutinous rice flour

• 3/4 cup warm water (adjust as needed for dough consistency)

• 1/4 cup osmanthus flowers (fresh or dried)

• 1/2 cup rice wine (sweet, if available)

• 2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)

• 4 cups water (for syrup)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough:

• In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour with warm water gradually until you form a smooth and pliable dough. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour; if too dry, add more water.

2. Form the Rice Balls:

• Take small pieces of dough and roll them into small balls, about the size of marbles.

3. Cook the Rice Balls:

• Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully drop the rice balls into the boiling water. Cook until they float to the top and continue boiling for another minute or two. Then, remove them with a slotted spoon and set aside.

4. Make the Osmanthus Syrup:

• In a separate pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Lower the heat and add the rice wine and osmanthus flowers. Simmer for about 10 minutes to infuse the flavors.

5. Combine and Serve:

• Add the cooked rice balls to the osmanthus syrup. Serve warm in small bowls, garnished with extra osmanthus flowers if desired.
