If you’ve considered doing a sourdough starter- let’s do it together! I got a fool proof recipe from a friend of mine, and I can’t wait to start trying new recipes with it.💗
RECIPE:
✨Day 1: Mix 1/2 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of water. You’re gonna want to mix that sucker harder than you’ve ever mixed anything in your life until it’s all combined, no lumps! Put a lid- or I just used a cloth so I wouldn’t get it too tight- loosely on the lid of your jar.
✨Day 2: Add 1/2 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of water
✨Day 3: Discard half of your starter mixture, Add 1/2 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of water.
✨Repeat Day 3!
In about 2 weeks, you can start using discard recipes!
📝NOTES:
⭐️Unbleached flour is a good choice, simply because bleached can prevent the fermentation of the sourdough starter.
⭐️Water is best chlorine free! If you have city water, you can either boil your water before and let cool completely, or buy filtered (not purified) water.
⭐️Feedings need to be about the same time of day!
⭐️⭐️⭐️ EDITED UPDATE: I now use about 1/2 C flour to maybe 1/3-1/4 C water now that I have a good, active starter. I like a thick, pancakey like consistency for better rising.
