AUTHENTIC BRITISH FISH & CHIPS IN SG!

Smiths Authentic British Fish and Chips - Balmoral For this week’s date night, 🐑 and I went to try the Tiktok famous fish and chips in Newton. Located in Balmoral Plaza, it was a quaint little place with lots of UK-esque decorations, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. (On hindsight, I strongly suggest outdoor seating as the ventilation inside was rather bad and my eyes felt very irritated).

1. Cod Fish and Chips

Rating: 8.25/10 (🐑: 9/10, Me: 7.5/10)

🐑 says its the best fish and chips he has ever had in SG. Me thinks its a decent plate. The portion is quite big for a single serving, but given that we paid $31.50 for this plate… ITS JUSTIFIED. The batter was light and crispy, and the fish tasted pretty fresh! There wasn’t a tinge of fishiness. It came with chips on the side, and these aren’t your regular thick cut fries. They tasted healthily fried(?) if that’s even a proper description LOL. I’m pretty sure they’re not salted, but they do provide salt if you need some extra flavour.

2. Calamari & Chips

Rating: 8/10

For some reason this wasn’t listed on the menu, we saw it on a standee on our table. The calamari was pretty good! Although I would have preferred that they stuck with the fish and chips batter, the breaded batter didn’t taste overly greasy. The squid was fresh and chewy, what more can you ask for?

Although the prices are on the higher side, the ingredients (from the seafood to the produce) were all imported from the UK, which I guess boosts its authenticity and justifies the price 🤔. 🐑 says he will definitely come back! (Idm hehe)
