Please do your own read ups too~ I'm only listing the following briefly from what I know and I'm not a doctor. Listing them so you know what can be tested.

Common symptoms : Itch, discharge, painful periods, cramps that are not normal, weird smells, visible rashes and lensions around the pubic region.

Unless you have other immune deficiency.

▪︎Herpes 1 & 2 - The antibodies stays dormant in your bloodstream forever, kinda like chickenpox's immunity. annd you may spread it to someone if its active but it doesn't affect anything. Its like an ulcer that may come and go.

🐼Super common, Life changing if unchecked 🐼

▪︎ Trichomoniasis- May cause PID if left alone and usually most STD tests in clinics don't have it in the panel. Treatable.

▪︎ Chalamydia - Super common and most people have no symptoms, but it affects your reproductive organs(PID) if you leave it unhealed. Usually it only takes antibiotics to treat it.

▪︎Gonorrhea - Also quite common and affects your reproductive system if left alone. Requires a shot to treat.

▪︎Hepatities B - Is like having diabeties and high blood pressure, but it spreads through sex. Will need medication to manage. Life long.

🦊Dangerous if left unchecked🦊

▪︎Syphillis - Although secondary syphilis usually goes away within weeks, in some cases it may last for up to 1 year. Without treatment, up to one-third of people will have late complications of syphilis. Tertiary syphilis may be permanently disabling, and it may lead to death.

Treatable usually at the first stages.

▪︎HIV - I'm sure everyone knows about this. But right now medication can keep it controlled. Life long.

Infections that can happen even

without sex, only to ladies:

× Candida - Yeast infection

Thick clumpy Cottage cheese, white discharge

ITCHY af

× Bacteria vaginosis

Stinky, fishy smell. Might be itchy too. Grey thin liquidy discharge.

These two usually causes a lot of discharge so its quite obvious if you ever get them. All clinics can treat them though, don't really need a test to identify it, just let the doctor know about your discharge.

Everyone risk getting Human papillomavirus (HPV) as long as you start having sex.

In most cases (9 out of 10), HPV goes away on its own within two years without health problems. But when HPV does not go away, it can cause health problems like genital warts and cervical cancer in woman.

Thats why the government is pushing all young woman <26 to get the HPV shots. (It doesnt work as much once you are past 26 though.)

Most people may not have symptoms and you never know when you may get an std.

As long as you are having se*, its your responsibilty to get tested unless you only ever had one partner and your partner doesn't fk around 🐵.

Altho, sometimes being infected from birth is also possible.

Herpes can be passed through kisses, but tbh for the older gens its super common for them to get HSV1 because their relative gives them a kiss and they jus get cold sores super early on in life and go through life thinking its just an ulcer. I wld say hsv testing only causes fear for no reason unless you have super active and painful sores. - but by then you also won't need to test it hhaha.

The most common one in sg is Chalamydia, and it usually has no symptoms, so do get it on your test if you ever go for testings!

🐑Where to get tested: 🐑

Price range : $150 - $250

1. The cheapest option is DSC clinic by the gov.

But it is usually super booked and appointments can take two months to get.

2. Any clinic with GPs

Tbh all neighbourhood clinics can request for the test if they have a GP. Its just how thick skin you are, the price should be around $200. If their clinic offers health checks packages they can usually do it.

Do the test every year if you are sexually active // to be even safer everytime you change partner. Never trust what they say ahaha always use a condom if possible~
