Traveling Solo with Anxiety

✈️ I saw a flight deal to Washington DC and impulsively bought a ticket so i couldn't change my mind 🫣

(i had already been challenging myself locally by going out to eat alone, to the movies, or the beach. i needed something with a kick this time 😂)

as long as i can remember my social anxiety has held me back from making moves and i was sooo annoyed with it at this point (and with myself).

Once i booked my flight my anxiety locked in and one positive about that is- it lead me to plan my trip diligently 👏🏾 i'm a planner so i don't mind detailed itineraries!

📝 I had food spots, activities, a hotel, the whole thaaang way in advance 😭 I knew that if i went in with no plan it would make my anxiety worse.

ANYWAY

⭐️ The trip was great. In hindsight it was nothing major because i had been to DC before as a kid. The greatness was in going to the airport alone and taking a whole flight to another state by myself 😭 God is so good because i was calm and collected when i landed, everything went so smoothly the whole time. I felt divinely protected. That didn't fully stop my overthinking or safety measures, but it gave me peace.

👏🏾 Being able to navigate a place on my own, eat alone, enjoy activities, and explore ALONE & comfortably was so liberating. I thought i was gonna be shaking in my boots but i wasn't. My anxiety was lying to me. Fear had me in a chokehold and i was able to break free by trusting in God and my ability to plan well, discern, and step into my independence. There was nothing to worry about because God is bigger than anything I could worry about!!

✨ As dramatic as it sounds, im proud of myself and am looking forward to doing it again. anxiety hasn't gone away but my ability to put it aside in 10x stronger than it 💪🏾

📣 If there is anything you want to do and you feel like anxiety is holding you back, those little fears are normal, but don't let them get bigger than your dream/goal.

Side note: people were so kind to me and offered to take my pics! I also brought a tripod to get some myself :)
