Attention Curly head gals. Here’s a cheat sheet on curl types.. which one are you?

Wavy: Wavy hair, also known as type 2 hair, is a hair type that falls between straight and curly hair. Wavy hair has an "S" shape to its curls and can be categorized into three subtypes: 2A, 2B, and 2C

Curly: Type 3 curly hair is characterized by defined, corkscrew-shaped curls. The subtypes of type 3 hair are determined by curl tightness. People with type 3 hair may experience frizz, dryness, and frustration. This is because curly hair makes it difficult for natural scalp oils to travel down the hair shaft

Super Curly: Curly hair is also known as type 3 hair, and depending on how tight the curl pattern is, it can be further divided in 3a, 3b and 3c:

3A - The loosest curly hair type, with a bouncy texture and silky textured curls.

3B - A springy and spiraled curl, which is more prone to frizz.

3C - The tightest curl of category 3, with a lot of volume and texture.

Coil: Coily hair is a type of hair that's tightly packed and springy, and is often described as being in type 4A, 4B, or 4C. Coily hair is different from curly hair because it's tighter and shaped differently. Curly hair, on the other hand, is looser and has a corkscrew or ringlet shape.
