It’s no secret that JB’s a hotspot for Singaporeans looking for a short holiday. And when it comes to heading over to our neighbour’s, riding the Causeway Link Bus is one of the best ways of getting there.

Also known as the CW bus, this travel method is a fuss-free way of reaching JB, with round trips starting from around S$3.40. It’s also pretty speedy; we boarded the CW bus from Bugis on a Tuesday morning, and it got us to the JB customs within an hour.

🚌 There are a bunch of CW bus routes that you can take to bring you to different parts of Malaysia, but the 3 routes that bring you to the JB customs are CW1, CW2, and CW5 at Kranji, Bugis, and Newton respectively.

🎫 You can use an EZ-Link card, ManjaLink card, Visa debit or credit card, or cash to pay for your tickets. The fare for travellers taking the CW1 bus from Kranji is S$2.60, while those boarding the CW2 bus from Bugis and CW5 bus from Newton will have to pay S$4.80 and S$4.60 respectively. Remember to keep your receipt if given one.

💺 After boarding the CW bus, your next stop is Woodlands Checkpoint. There’s plenty of room on a CW bus; they’re similar in size to single-deck SBS and SMRT buses. It took us around 25 minutes to arrive at Woodlands Checkpoint from Bugis.

🛂 Once you’ve cleared customs at Woodlands Checkpoint, it’s time to hitch a ride on the CW bus again that will bring you to the JB Customs. Remember the receipt from when you first boarded the bus? Present it to the staff to board the bus again, or tap your card on a reader if you’ve paid with a Visa card.

🇲🇾 The ride to the JB customs is about 10-15 minutes. After that, simply clear the JB customs and you’re free to explore JB!

🏠 Once you’ve had your fun, head back to Departure Platform A once you’ve cleared the JB customs to head home. Just like how you boarded the CW bus to get to JB, hop on one to bring you to Woodlands Customs, and you’re back on Singapore soil.
