Hey, everyone! Yesterday was Black Girl Day Off, and I was super intentional about pouring into myself. I kicked off my day with a delicious cappuccino at Restore, which set the perfect tone. Then, I headed to my favorite spot in Cleveland, the Cleveland Art Museum. There’s just something about being surrounded by beautiful art that feeds my soul!

After soaking in all that creativity, I made my way to Trader Joe’s to grab some flowers then to Capitol Grill for lunch. I ordered the lobster mac and crab cakes, which turned out to be a very good.

Next up was some much-needed retail therapy at Zara. Let me tell you, they have the cutest things for fall fashion! And to wrap up the day, I enjoyed some wine at a winery I visited for the first time. It was the perfect way to unwind!

I can’t wait to do it all over again next year! But the truth is, we should prioritize self-care every day, not just on special occasions like this. It’s so important for our well-being to take time for ourselves and pour into our own cups. I encourage every Black woman to participate in days like this, not only on Black Girl Day Off but every day. You deserve it!

About Black Girl Off Day: I recently learned about Black Girl Day Off, which is observed on October 11th, right after World Mental Health Day. It was founded by Tomeka Casanova to recognize stress as a leading precursor to chronic illnesses among Black women. These include heart disease, breast cancer, and more. It serves as a call to action for Black women to practice self-care. This day is a reminder to pour into ourselves, celebrate who we are, and acknowledge the unique challenges we face. I’m so grateful for this day (shoutout to Tomeka Casanova) and the opportunity to focus on self-care!
