I get asked all the time how I do this placement, or make the colors look muted and subtle.

Here’s how!:

❤️1. Do whatever needs to be done to get the client to a dark base, with level 8-9 babylights, and about a 1 inch a veil of their darker color to lay over everything. (You should be able to see the babylights. But they should be very fine, subtle, and partially covered by the veil.)

🧡2. DO NOT DEEPEN THE COLORS WITH ANY ADDITIVES. You want the colors to be nice and bright, the dark strands around and overtop of the babylights are what is going to mute the colors.

💛3. Apply the rainbows directly over the babylights, this can be done as a color melt, prism, etc.

💚4. To get the exact look of the first photo- make sure each color of the rainbow is being repeated down each strand at least twice. (ROYGBIV twice.)

💙5. For best chances to avoid bleeding- do the rainbows AFTER any permanent or Demi permanent dark color is done.

💜6. Rinse in cold water.
