Caricature at a Wedding ✍️💒

One thing that we thought to do differently was to have a caricature artist at our wedding! ✍🏻 This addition was to help facilitate the crowds for the lunch reception, whilst bringing home a personalised gift that was unique. We chanced upon JellyCaricature (Instagram) from a pop-up at Orchard Gateway, where she drew our faces in such a short duration of time ⌚️, one that we felt tickled and pleased by, thus we reached out on engaging them for our wedding! We were told it was their first time that they were engaged for a wedding, thus it was both an eye-opening and enjoyable time and we were happy to explore new options like this with local artists! 🧑🏻‍🎨

We engaged them for 3 hours, from 11am and 2pm, which was a little earlier than our scheduled time to end, as well as a prolonged duration in case the queue was long. JellyCaricature shared that they needed a place to sit alongside a table for use, and will bring the other collaterals thus we assigned them a seat within view that allowed a queue to form without clashing with our lunch area. They also shared about designing a template for us, which we were very excited by because we wanted to incorporate elements of our wedding like our hashtag and the church wedding elements into the artwork 💒. The Bridal Team was also informed to encourage people to queue for the caricature 🎨, and when the queue started forming it started piquing the interests of others. After all, we Singaporeans really like to queue right? 🤣

Amusingly, the crowd cleared out at around 1.30pm, thus there was some time buffered for the artist to take a break. She was also kind enough to text the bridal team on sending photos over if there is anything else we wanted drawn given the extra time 🕑. We appreciated that because there is a small group of guests that skipped this activity as the queue felt long. During our engagement, she drew a total of 68 faces 😶‍🌫️, which equated to under 3 minutes per face! Given that their estimated speed was 3 - 5 minutes per face, we were pleasantly surprised at the speed that the team was able to meet! 💖

After the event, we heard many compliments about JellyCaricature, from how the queue seemed long as first glance, but it actually moved fast thanks to the artist's speed in drawing, and how there were discussions sparked by the artwork and laughs around in seeing their artwork for the first time. 🤭 It made the the environment relaxed and comfortable, one that filled the air with lively chatter and a sense of excitement. 🕊

On hindsight, we did not have any regrets engaging them though we were all new to such an arrangement. They brought so many smiles and joy to all the guests around that day 🥰.
