How to split household tasks with your partner

When it comes to looking after the household, many women are doing more than their fair share.

I realized I didn’t have a good system in place to split things up fairly with my partner because I was getting overwhelmed with my mental load so I picked up the book Fair Play.

This book taught me that a household should be run like a company, where employees have clear job descriptions and different areas that they own, instead of one person doing most of the work and having to ask another person for help.

So I took this to practice by making a spreadsheet (in good old Millennial CPA fashion) and listed out EVERY.SINGLE task in our house, from chores to pets to doing taxes to managing christmas decor, and assigned an owner to each task.

This helped us A LOT in splitting our responsibilities more 50/50 so that one person isn’t burdened with more load than the other and I hope this method will help you too if you are struggling in this department!
