Japan || Google Maps was super useful !!💯

so I went to Japan last year and the train navigating was definitely much more complex than in Sg (but of course right? Sg is so tiny HAAHAH) Anyway, the exp just made me feel even more grateful for the Google Maps app! It really helped a lot in Japan!

Japan’s train stations are huge! Some stations have so many different train lines, can be so chaotic!

So let me summarise #MyTop3 favourite part about The Google Maps in Japan 🤩🤣✨

1️⃣ plan possible travel routes by time!

- you can key in the ‘leave’ time or ‘arrive’ time and see the estimated duration of travel and also which train route are available at that time!

- this function is helpful to find out what is the latest time you can stay out can still catch the last train! Esp if you plan on staying out late!

- taxi fare over there can be REAL INSANE 🌚

2️⃣ it gives you the estimated fares!

- with the info on the est fares and duration, you can decide the best route to take (base on my preference)

- being in a foreign country you really won’t know the difference in train fares so this really helps to save $$ money by not spending extra unnecessarily🤩

3️⃣ it tells you all the important info !!

- as the Japan stations can be really huge and number of signboards can be overwhelming

- the app states all the important info to help locate the platform to head to

- eg. The platform number & and the number of the train line (image2)

- even the colour or icon are clues as to what to look for at the signboards in the train station!! 🤣

👀Note:

do rmb to plan the route from the airport and to the airport. That time, I made a mistake and book an early flight back to Sg but the train doesn’t operate that early 🤦‍♀️ and the taxi fare was S$380 that time…. (Last year, June’23)

It was insane so we had no choice but to sleepover at the airport just to avoid the $380 taxi fare 🌚🫠 so plan properly, can consider staying at a capsule hotel in the airport! (I rmb there’s one connected to the airport..)

I need to add this disclaimer haha :-

I’m still a total Japan newbie and I used the Google maps purely on trains route. No buses at all (so I really dk about that 🥲 don’t want any of yall to be stranded… 👀 and everything I shared here are based on my short holiday experience in Japan last year June 2023 ~~~
