We cannot live without: kitchen edition 🍴

Its been 3 months since we moved in and there are just some things we can’t live without. I love love love to stay home, enjoy my home cafe & make meals, so here’s my pick of the appliances I cannot live without.

✨ Philips Pressure cooker

WE LOVE SOUP!!! I use this like 100% of the time when I cook - it makes AMAZINGGGGG 😋 tasty soup in about 40 mins and even broths too! I use it for ikan bilis broth also when we home-make MHK.

The given settings is good enough to make a very flavourful soup like old cucumber or ABC and I love how its really fuss free to use - throw the ingredients in, add water and turn on the settings, soup will be ready below an hour! This is one thing we can’t live without cos l all our meals will have a soup 😂

✨Delonghi coffee machine

It has been my dream to own one after experiencing it during a roadshow AND no regrets despite its hefty price tag. I wake up to cafe grade coffee everyday and its the best lifestyle upgrade for me!!!

✨ 3M water dispenser

The only one with a certified filter (in our knowledge) hence it was without a second thought to decide on what brand of water dispenser we should buy. Despite its bulkiness and being super huge, I think what matters more is what goes inside our body - so this was it!

It has 3 temp - hot (can make coffee & maggie), room temp and cold (like icecwater!)

✨ Toshiba rice cooker

Tee and I are both super rice eaters (we usually eat 3pax serving for 2 of us hahaha), we also can’t live without this 😂 As you should know by now, Tee’s all into the grey & black theme hence this was the only rice cooker (within our budget) that was grey & black!

✨ Samsung fridge

And of courseeeeee our fridge!! To keep all things refrigerated - food, drinks, icecream etc etc especially for the hot season now. Picked this cos its grey metallic - fitting the theme!

I love the freezer compartment - 2 doors, one for ice/ice cream and the other one for fresh produce. Keeps contamination at bay 😂

What we learnt:

💰 Kitchen appliances are really big ticket items and it adds up to a huge sum (especially with reno and everything, you’ll really feel the stress all together).

We spaced out our purchases across many months so we didn’t feel that big pinch when we’re super close to move in day. Not helping that Tee’s never a believer of instalments so we really pay off our “debts” on the spot whenever we buy something - one good thing from this, we’re debt free except for the house instalments from HDB.

💰 Do price comparison way before keys collection really helps because you have the time horizon to actually plan your buys & also wait for sales! You’ll also have ample time to shop around different places to compare price and bag the best deal!

💰 Credit card cashback / membership from malls really helps too - I applied for tangs member and they run 12% rebates member sales like 4/5 times a year so I bagged the coffee machine there and collected a 12% rebate, used it to offset our rice cooker (and only paid tens of dollars for it).

💰 Groupbuy! Courts megastore runs BTO groupbuy for new home owners - you’ll probably get a reasonable discount from the private event, not mentioning free subway vouchers too! Haha
