so how did i use my amex card?

Thank you so much for the overwhelming response to my previous post! This time, I’m going to share how I specifically make use of the benefits from my AMEX Platinum Card.

Dining Vouchers and Restaurant Benefits:🍔🍔

In the second picture, you can see the list of AMEX partner merchants where you can dine and enjoy 10X Accelerator Points. For example, if we spend SGD 100, we can earn 1,000-2,000 loyalty points. Converted to KrisFlyer miles, this equates to approximately $16.66 in rebates or cashback.

Additionally, they also provided restaurant vouchers. If you calculate the basic consumption when using these vouchers, it’s equivalent to about $400 in rebates.

Also, some restaurants offer unique benefits exclusively for AMEX cardholders. For example, during our anniversary seafood feast (check the third picture), we originally planned to indulge ourselves, but to our surprise, there was a 1-for-1 deal! So, my tip is to call the restaurant ahead of booking to check for any offers.

Lifestyle Spending Benefits:🛍️🛍️

In the fourth picture, you can see that these merchants also offer 10X Accelerator Points, which is again $16.66 for every $100 spent. Moreover, AMEX provides vouchers, totaling around $400 in discounts or cashback.

Airport Lounge Access Card:✈️✈️

This card is like a godsend, haha! It grants access to over 1,600 airport lounges worldwide. You can go wherever you want, whenever you want. Previously, my girlfriend and I had to sleep in the waiting area during layovers, which left us feeling stiff and sore. Now, we can freshen up, sleep in comfy chairs, and even grab some food. This is the Priority Pass Prestige card, which is valued at $499.

Flight Booking Rebates:✈️💰

AMEX offers an annual $200 rebate for booking flights, but it’s only applicable to Singapore Airlines or the low-cost carrier, Scoot. Since we’ll need to travel frequently over the next few years, these flight-related rebates are a great perk for us.

Overall Thoughts:👀

To sum up, credit cards are an economic tool used by companies to encourage spending among ordinary people. However, many of the daily expenses are unavoidable. Plus, with our wedding coming up this year, a lot of spending is in our near future. So, these benefits have allowed us to maximize our rewards, and by next year, we might even splurge on a couple of business class tickets to enjoy the fruits of our labor. As of now, the $1,700 annual fee has already paid for itself. It is quite expensive, but I don't have many other choices, haha!
