4 ways to make your entryway more welcoming!

Out of all the space in my home, the entryway is one that I thought could have been planned better. Small spaces are actually the hardest to design! Here are 4 things I have learned that is important for a functional and aesthetic foyer.

💡 1. Plan for storage to minimise and hide clutter

- Best for it to be enclosed as this area near the door can get dusty

- Do a stocktake of your shoes and buy the right cabinet size

- Consider miscellaneous items like keys, bags, etc.

💡 2. Make sure it’s well lit

- If it’s not bright enough, add light source

- Use mirror to give illusion of a wider space

- For my home, I knock down a wall and added glass so light from the kitchen can enter.

💡3. Design matters

- It’s the first thing you will see when you come into a home, so it sets the whole mood.

- Add some items you love (photos, art work, sculpture) to add some interest to the place

💡4. Make it functional

- Add a small bench for shoe changing or to temporary place shopping bags

- Use tiles, mat or partition to segregate the space. - Consider things like privacy.
