It’s not the first time we are driving in but so much has changed since Covid! Here’s our experience and hopefully my sharing will help you to avoid some unnecessary last minute worries.

⚠️Besides the basics like checking your passport validity (at least 6 months from expiry date) and getting travel insurance, here are 3 things you must must must do before you drive in.

❗️1. Get a Touch N’ Go card

You will be expected to pay for highway and checkpoint tolls using your Touch N’ Go card, so that means you card got to have stored value.

Our first problem was, it was sold out at all the petrol stations we tried, so we had to buy it online from a 3rd party seller at a much higher price.

We opted for no value card thinking it can be easier top-up using the Touch N’ Go app, but who knows it takes 3 days to verify our account! Luckily we manage to top up a few hours before we set off.

Another way is to borrow one from your friend.

‼️2. Apply for VEP and rem to top up your petrol.

It’s in the law so no excuses, otherwise you will be fine.

Here’s where to register your vehicle: VEP

Find out more about the Three Quarter Tank rule here.

‼️❗️3. During peek period, especially school holidays, the queue can be a few hours long and really unbearable. One tip is to monitor the waiting time online a few days before at different hours of the day to identify a pattern. Then, plan your entering and return time accordingly.

Here’s a useful website: Jalannow.com

There are also other useful apps like Checkpoint.sg and Beat the jam! that you can try our.

🫶🏻Save this for later if driving to JB is in your travel plans! 🚗
