Though we’re spending 10 days in Bali, Ubud was a quick stop for us since it wasn’t J’s first time and we wanted to spend more time diving and exploring the neighbouring islands of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida (more on this in another post!) 👀

We decided to hire a 🚘 driver 🚘 for Ubud since we had limited time and this turned out to be a huge blessing as unfortunately Ubud was really rainy in the time we were there. Having a driver gave us the flexibility to shift our plans around depending on the weather and was an extremely convenient way to get around. We paid $55 for a full 10-hour day, which after comparing to GrabCar/Gojek prices, wasn’t a huge difference! We highly recommend our driver so feel free to leave us a comment if you’d like his contact.

So on to our itinerary: we honestly spent a lot of our time eating and chilling at cafes, but here are the three main activities we did over 2 days:

Day 1️⃣🕔 (5-6pm): Aloha Swing 📸

We started day 1 late as we only touched down in Bali in the afternoon. Aloha Swing was a filler activity before dinner since it’s one of the key attractions of Ubud. Unfortunately the timing just wasn’t the best for us - it was cloudy and drizzly and it was getting dark. We paid about IDR 400,000 (~ S$36) each which we didn’t feel was all that worth it. Perhaps on a different day with better weather we would’ve felt differently. Nevertheless, if you love taking pictures (which we don’t) then this is still a cool experience! The staff are very professional and helped us take great pictures and videos with our phones so you’ll definitely leave with good shots.

Day 2️⃣ 🕘(9-10.30am): Alchemy Yoga & Meditation Centre 🧘🏻‍♀️🧘🏻‍♂️

J has been doing yoga in Singapore for a couple of years now, so of course she had to visit at least one of Ubud’s famous yoga centres. Alchemy was highly reviewed not just for its beautiful space, but also for its classes. We went for their 💧Water Class💧 which is similar to a flow class, and it was simply refreshing and rejuvenating. No pre-booking was needed, we just showed up 15 minutes earlier to ensure we got a spot (surprisingly, the class was really full for a rainy morning). Yoga in Bali is pretty cheap and only cost us IDR 100,000 (~ S$9) each 😱. Highly recommend this place whether you’re a beginner or experienced yogi 🧘🏻‍♀️

Day 2️⃣🕑 (2-4pm): Karsa Spa

Of course, we couldn’t leave Ubud without going to a spa. This was so important to us we researched on a good place even before our trip and found Karsa Spa. It’s located in a quiet part of Ubud surrounded by lush greenery - truly a beautiful setting like no other. We went all out with a 2 hour massage, body scrub and bath treatment (go big or go home, right?) which only cost us IDR 460,000 (~ S$42). We loved that we could pick from a variety of oils, scrubs, and baths - our spicy Balinese boreh bath was amazing - look at the colour of the water! 😮 If you’re interested in checking it out, we recommend for you to pre-book this place as based on past reviews, it’s constantly booked out.

Stay tuned for our next post on where we ate in Ubud! We had some pretty amazing food there 😮‍💨🤤
