Tips for Beginner Witches I Wish I Knew Pt. 1 of 2

These are some things I wish someone would have told me when I first started my craft.

Wicca and Witchcraft are two separate entities.

- Not every witch has to be Wiccan. When I started all the books I would buy would have Wiccan undertones and I was very confused as to what was what. I almost was driven out of the craft because I didn't want to be Wiccan but I thought I had no choice!

Deities aren't going to ruin your life.

- I was so afraid to work with a deity because I was told 'oh it's not for beginners, they're going to mess you up if you forget to pray every day' right? No. Aphrodite isn't going to give you acne because you left flowers to wilt on her altar, they have better things to do than that.

You don't need all the spell components to cast the spell.

- All the time we see super complicated spells on social media. I used to think if I didn't have all the components I couldn't cast the spell. In reality you can erase or replace any components as you want! Another example could be if a creativity boosting spell online calls for an orange candle, but I see creativity as yellow or purple, I can use my purple candle gosh darn it!

Sometimes things that sound like gatekeeping are actually to protect you.

- When people say protection is essential they mean it, it's not something to lack on if you're casting spells or working with entities. I've heard of people in new age witchcraft calling things like that gate-keepy but it's for your own safety!
