before my 2nd BKK trip of 2024, i scoured thru lemon8 & tiktok to find food recommendations & TBH most of the posts were the same… mentions of Jeh O Chula & Phed Mark were plastered everywhere, seemed like every Singaporean was paid to visit those places 😕

a lil context about me: i visit Bangkok AT LEAST twice a year ever since pre-covid & my dad has been living there with his Thai gf since 10+ years ago (he’s basically a local at this point & he KNOWS all the good food spots)

okay these recommendations aren’t overtly fancy or bougie but comfort foods that i would recommend if you’re sian of seeing Singaporeans at every head turn 🙂‍↔️

1. Duck Noodle 🦆

located in Chatuchak is a noodle shop that’s literally called Duck Noodle LOL

we got the regular duck noodle in extra size for 80b 😋 broth was light yet flavourful & the duck meat was quite tender! something to wash down the grease from all the street food available~

2. 📍Thai Chinese Noodle Shop

unfortunately can’t link the address but you can refer to the screenshot above for reference! this shop is located at the side of a wholesale market opposite Platinum Mall (perfect for a quick lunch break in between some shopping)

ordered the dishes as listed above & the prices range from 50-70b which is so WORTH 🤤 the wanton soup was slightly peppery & mixed with different kinds of liao!

basil pork rice was a tad spicy but one of the better ones we tried (i’m a xiao la girl so those with poor spice tolerance like me AVOID)

& lastly the PRAWNS IN CURRY POWDER 😍 my all time fav thai dish AAAAH curry powder sauce was tasty (i usually don’t finish my rice BUT i did when i pei the sauce with it) & not overly salty like other places but ok my only gripe is that they’re not exactly generous with the prawns ☹️

3. Crepes Stall

i forgot what this crepes stall is called 😭 but it’s at the basement of Platinum Mall

every time i visit Platinum Mall i MUST eat this crepe combi (nutella + banana + cornflakes)

you can customise as many toppings you want & it’s super affordable??? my fav snack to have whilst haggling with the store owners hehe

okay that’s it for part 1. FOR NOW ~~ save this post if you’re heading to BKK & let me know if i should ungatekeep/share my list of foods i DO NOT recommend as someone who frequents BKK a fair bit
