📺New Doc Alert: In Case You Forgot📺

It was way past my bedtime last night and usually I keep my television on in order to fall asleep peacefully (I know, its not good to do this, but I cant sleep in silence. I’ll actually have nightmares). I didnt know what to watch but this photo slid across the homescreen so I thought “why not?”

We all lived through what happened in 2020. My stance on January 6th will never change. I was working from home at the time and I remember hearing about a “Save America March” that would occur on that day so I tuned in, because 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘵 were they possibly going to do anyway? There were many speakers and influencers. Some pastors were there. Famous conservative youtubers were either covering the live march online or they were broadcasting live from the scene themselves.

I remember hearing the foolish cries of “the election was rigged!” “Trump won!” “Stop the Steal! Save America!” And then there were accusations of voter fraud. Everything was so chaotic. The country was spinning wildly inside this vortex of confusion. Plus, the pandemic was out of control. I just remember tuning everything out and thinking, “Well, if theres cases of voter fraud the votes need to be checked and recounted and accuracy should be ensured so there are no questions left.” I knew Biden had won but because there were such passionate cries of fraud, I thought any and every suspicion should be wiped clean and settled.

I turned my eyes back to my computer screen to focus on my work.

About forty-five minutes to one hour later, I remember looking back at my television and the gathering that at first looked like an assembly/march now looked like a violent swarm rushing to the capitol. There was smoke, yelling, swinging, fighting, nooses, signs that read “Hang Mike Pence.” Wild-acting people screamed into blowhorns and charged their fellow “patriots” to rush the capitol. The youtubers covering the live footage were speechless (some of them would later switch political parties after this).

At this point I pretty much stopped my work. Although I wasnt even surprised, I was thinking like “Well, what 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥? I thought they said this was going to be a peaceful march? They are doing their party no favors.”

Men wearing ugly slathers of paint on their bodies, some in frightening riot gear or camo, began breaking into the capitol, fueled by the idea that a high level of cheating had changed the outcome of the presidential election. It was kind of like something out of 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘞𝘢𝘳 𝘡, the way the swarm of Trump loyalists climbed all over the capitol, eventually pouring in. Theres infamous clips of the capitol security team trying to bar the doors while the mob screams relentlessly and pushes back, the glass on the doors cracking from the pressure. One officer is trapped in between the mob and the doors, screaming for his life while his body breaks and hes slowly suffocating. A black female officer is violently thrown around by a group of white men.

Someone eventually gets shot.

Somewhere else, the mob breaks through and by this time all government officials inside are rushed to safety. Some officials hit the floor, hiding. Their offices are torn apart while “the party who voted for law and order” invade more rooms, yell and threaten lawmakers, and call for Mike Pence to be hanged.

All of this was very hard to watch.

Thats what I remember about January 6th, 2020. The former president Trump and his devoted followers would eventually describe the rioters as “hostages” and during the recent debate against Kamala Harris, Trump stated someone was shot by “an out-of-control police officer.”

I think the reason why Im recommending this documentary is its a reminder that these people went down to the capitol to fight for literally nothing. There actually 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯𝘵 any confusion about the votes, it was a 𝘭𝘪𝘦 straight from the start. Trump knew he lost but, like the Grinch, “he thought of a lie and thought it up quick.” The only difference between him and the Grinch is, eventually The Grinch grows a heart. Trump continues to lead his life as a major fraudster, costing people their actual lives, time, family, and well-being.

After January 6th I really started tuning out the news and only heard stories in fragments. 𝘔𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴. 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘷𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨. It got REALLY bad and REALLY low. The Dominion conspiracy is a new one for me.

And thats exactly what they were: conspiracies. 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘭 sheds a very bright light on just how 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘴 conspiracy theories are. 𝘓𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘭 is an even better word. And the thing is, Trump continues to spread them—unabashed and unbothered. He knows he can make his supporters do anything if he says just 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.

𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘶𝘴.

𝘊𝘖𝘝𝘐𝘋 19 𝘪𝘴𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘣𝘪𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘭.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘚 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘉𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯.

𝘏𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘰𝘨𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘴.

This isnt normal. This is radical. This isnt how Americans want our leaders to operate. Doctors and lawyers dont rely on conspiracy theories. A president shouldnt either. I highly recommend this doc for anyone who missed anything the first time, anyone who needs a reminder to vote this year, anyone who has doubts about Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, anyone whos worried about our politics. Theres a valid reason why Republicans have not won the popular vote for twenty years.-☕️🌷
