What’s up Lemon8 fam! This is my first post!!! I got my nose pierced on the 24th July 2023, at Ink by Finch in Peninsula Shopping Centre and it was freaking wholesome 😍.

Getting my nose pierced was a bucket list during my poly time, and this was my whole experience and things that I need to factor in:

1. Parents

ALWAYS discuss this with your parents!! Do some research, and let them know that you’re committed because piercings can get infection very easily if you do not bother about aftercare. My mother is very adamant of me from getting my cartilage ear pierced (e.g: tragus, helix) because it doesn’t looked nice on my ears, and afraid that I cannot take care properly. Surprisingly, she was very supportive of me in getting my nose pierced when I brought this up to her 😀

2. Workplace Environment

Make sure that your workplace is flexible with the dress code rule!! My workplace environment is very flexible with the dress code rule. Therefore, I do not have any problems with that ✨

3. Piercing Gun 🔫 or Piercing Needle🪡?

Piercing Gun is HIGHLY DISCOURAGED for nose piercing (or cartilage/body piercings in general) because it can cause a huge trauma to your nose, and it’s not 100% sanitised. Always go for a REPUTABLE tattoo studio that uses sanitised needle. If you are not sure where to do it, you can start by asking your friends where they did it! Never go for gun piercing just because it’s CHEAP AF.

4. Types of Jewellery

The piercer will be showing you the range of studs to be pierced with. IMO, it’d be good to be pierced with studs instead of ring; the future you will thank you A LOT.

5. Pain rate

Every individual has different pain tolerance. For me it’s more of a quick pinch; 3.5/5. The whole ordeal last for 3-5s.

6. Aftercare

It’s pain in the ass NGL because now it’s harder to get rid of the boggles and washing my face. Other than that, I have to use the saline spray twice a day to clean the nose piercing area by taking out the crusts.

Things to take note:

1. Do not drink alcohol before your piercing day!

2. If you think that something is wrong with the piercing, always contact the piercer/studio for advice! For my case, my initial studs was sinking inside because my nostril is thick. Therefore, I needed to go back to switch with a thicker stud to accommodate the swelling

3. Healing time is at least 6-8 months. Do not change the jewellery too fast 💨
