Avoid exertional rhabdomyolysis! (RB in short)

I already heard about RB injury, how more people were hospitalised due to it. A friend working in a clinic shared many patients visited due to this after a spin class.

I’m not super fit even when i’m already gymming regularly 3-4x a week on threadmill, etc. I figured i should be ok.

Spin was tiring and i understood why some got RB.

SPIN is rhythmic cycling and you can get into the fast pace of the music and try to follow fellow spinners.

Here’s some tips to survive your 1st SPIN:

1️⃣ Water bottle is a MUST! Take a sip every break,

water will help release muscle tension, even if

you are not thirsty..drink up!

2️⃣ Adjust your seat and handle, this will prevent

hunchover, avoiding neck, shoulder strain etc

3️⃣ Posture! yes riding with the correct posture will

not overstrain your muscles with your lower back

and you will be able to perform the movements

easily and build up the right core muscles!

4️⃣ No competition! No one cares how others spin..

you dont need to follow the same pace. they are

all focusing on their own spin.

5️⃣ Listen to your body! if its tired take a notch

down, adjust the pace and resistance, you are

here for the long term, not spin and die. not

worth it..

6️⃣ Good trainers will not shame any riders, they will

encourage or ask you to spin at your own pace,

you are here to exercise not join the army..

ignore those overly aggressive trainers.. rem,

you are responsible for your own health and

safety.. they wont suffer your pain.

7️⃣ Replenish your liquids after class! your muscles

need it for recovery after the intensity.

Especially those with low muscle mass.. this will be a shock to your body if you overdo it. Take it easy for your first class, you wont turn into a superman/woman with just 1 session.
