Motherhood scared me...

When I found out I was pregnant with my first child, I wanted to tell my husband and best friend in a huge way. Unfortunately they ruined the surprise because they dug thru my stuff and found the positive pregnancy paperwork. I was mad, but it's such a fun story to reflect on. They got suspicious because I was acting weird.

As my belly got bigger, I heard all the horror stories of birthing and labor, so I did my own research on how to avoid some things naturally. When we had our baby shower and maternity pics, I was excited. I had to walk on a beach 7.5 months pregnant to get the shots, but boy did the photographer do amazing! I posted my one of my favorite.

Born with his beautiful big eyes wide open, it was a relatively easy birth. No tearing surpsingly, considering his head was HUGE. But he was perfect. The only thing that saddened me was post circumcision, I could tell he'd been crying alot. And I couldn't get him to latch. I ended up pumping later, but cried the first night he was with me because I felt like I was already failing as a mom. Turns out, he was tongue tied. Within 12 hrs my milk was in and I filled up like three bottles. He was a happy baby who slept alot! I was able to finish my Masters Degree AND draft the first two books in my fantasy series within the first six months of his life.

He walked early, and was just overall a sweet baby. At two, after shots, he stopped talking and didn't start to enunciate his words again until about 5. Again, something I thought I was doing wrong, despite reading with him and doing things with him. Fast forward to almost 10 years old and he is the kindest, most respectful, intelligent, and little gentleman in his age group. He prays for others, strives to be fair and considerate, and genuinely funny.

I did a lot of worrying early on, but strive to make sure no matter he felt valued and important. I see now, God always had a plan for him and he's growing so much more than I've ever dreamed! Motherhood is the absolute best gift I could've received. National sons day 2024
