My Momma

Today is Alzheimer’s Awareness Day, and it has me reflecting deeply on the journey my mother and I are on. Dementia is no joke—it has slowly taken my mom from the strong, beautiful, and joyful woman she was to who she is today. It’s heartbreaking to watch her lose pieces of herself, but even in the midst of that, I am so grateful to be by her side.

As I create this montage of her, I start missing who she was even more. I haven’t just lost my mother—I’ve lost my partner, my friend, my rock, a piece of my heart, and my other half. For those who knew her, you remember her vibrant spirit, her strength, and her boundless love. Dementia may have taken much of that away, but on her good days, glimpses of her shine through. I treasure those moments and hold on to the love she continues to give, even if it looks different now.

This journey has taught me more about patience, kindness, and unconditional love than I could have imagined. While it’s not easy, I’m thankful to walk this path with her, loving her through it all. 💜 #AlzheimersAwareness #DementiaJourney #GratefulHeart #LoveAndPatience
