Here’s my personal take on why I feel Gyeongju is nicer to explore than Jeonju! Both cultural villages are nice in their own aspects, but if you only have time to visit one place, I recommend Gyeongju!
There are MORE sights and sceneries to explore & it’s in walkable distances. Surrounded by Hanoks (cultural village), tombs, mountain views.
📍 Gyeongju Hanok Village
There are many cute shops (such as o! holiday) that sells a variety of cute items at affordable prices! The whole street is filled with clothing & accessory stores, self-photo booths & food n drinks establishments.
If shopping is not really your thing, there are also scenery spots near the hanok village:
Cheomseongdae is the oldest surviving astronomical observatory in Asia. (not allowed to enter in, view from afar)
🌺 I’m not too much of a history person, I was more interested in what was around the area… During Spring, the flowers bloomed and it was super pretty!! Many different flower fields to take pictures with (& yes you can go into some for pics!) I think it would be nice during autumn too~
At night it looks even better, with the light reflecting on the water (like a mirror effect)
🚌 Gyeongju is an hour away from Busan, so I recommend visiting there if you are looking for a day trip! The bus ride from Seoul to Jeonju is about 3-4 hours, it’s pretty long and tiring 😫
(see my previous post for Jeonju recommendations)
