How To Shop Financially Responsible

Let’s be honest, shopping is a dangerous game we all love to play. I wanted to share with you guys my top 3 ways I go about shopping to make sure I’m not creating a wardrobe that won’t last.

1. Create a notes app

This has become a recent addition into my shopping career. Everything whether that is accessories, clothes, or shoes I write them in a notes tab. If I can’t stop thinking about the item after a week or so then I will allow myself to make the purchase if I can financially afford to do so!

2. If you didn’t go in the store looking for it, you don’t need it

This has been a HUGE thing I have had to keep telling myself even inside the store! I know we can get into moods of shopping, but if it’s not something I have been thinking about wanting… forget it! I’ll put it in my notes app for the time being.

3. More than two ways to style the item

This rule has had a huge impact on my spending. Why would I buy an item I am only going to wear once or can’t reuse in my closet? I always make sure there are different ways to style an item before thinking about getting that item.
