If you’re a fan of Mala, A Hot Hideout aka the famous NTU Student-owned Mala will be opening their 3rd outlet at KINEX Mall at Paya Lebar on 1st December!

If you haven’t read my previous posts on my dining experience at their other 2 outlets, here are some tips for you to note before placing your order.

Must-try items include the following, where you can opt to separate the fried items from the soup to retain the crispness too (talk about attention to detail 🌟)

- 𝐄𝐠𝐠𝐬: They scramble their eggs!!! The creaminess of the scrambled eggs help to mellow out the spice, and complement the rich flavours of the mala perfectly.

- 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐞𝐬/𝐋𝐨𝐭𝐮𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬: Don’t be intimidated by the huge chunks of potatoes and lotus roots as they usually thinly slice them before deep frying these 2 items to achieve crispy, goldenbrown potato/lotus root chips for your mala.

- 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡/𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐭: Apart from the lotus root/potatoes, these 2 items will also be deep fried by default. I enjoy pairing these with the peanut sauce condiment which is available at the sauce station.

- 𝐋𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥/𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐟𝐮/𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐫𝐨𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬: These ingredients served at A Hot Hideout are way fresher, where they do not have the typical aftertaste that you’ll usually get from other mala chains elsewhere.

They also offer a variety of soup bases/stir fry options for you to choose from, where my top two picks will be their 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐫 𝐅𝐫𝐲.

Condiments - your trip to A Hot Hideout will be incomplete without their 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐮𝐜𝐞. I recently discovered this amazing combination of their 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗰𝗲 + 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗽 + 𝗔𝗻𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 and the result is a complex flavour bomb of sweet, salty, numbing and a burst of umami - it was something I never thought would’ve worked.

Everything is priced at $𝟐.𝟔𝟖/𝟏𝟎𝟎𝐠, and $1 per egg, which is a good value for the quality of ingredients you’ll be getting.

Their grand opening will take place on 1st December so mark your calendars and bring your family and friends down to feast, where you’ll find A Hot Hideout @ Kinex located right across Starbucks at Level 1 of KINEX Mall.
