This popular chain of takeaway shops specialises in serving delectable dimsum that will satisfy your taste buds. They are conveniently located in almost every corner of the region that it is impossible to miss their stores.

Everything is freshly made in stores where you’ll see the staff working hard in the kitchen

During my visit, I had the pleasure of trying their 𝐒𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐢 (𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐝𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬), 𝐄𝐛𝐢-𝐬𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐢 (𝐬𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐩 𝐝𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬), 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧 (𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐛𝐮𝐧).

The plump 𝐒𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐢, filled with savoury pork, were a delight. Each bite offered a burst of flavor, leaving me wanting more.

The 𝐄𝐛𝐢-𝐬𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐢, with their succulent shrimp filling, were equally enjoyable. The 𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗽 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀. It was a pleasant variation from the traditional pork shumai.

Lastly, I savoured the 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧 (𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐛𝐮𝐧), a bao that resembled the da bao we have in Singapore. The wonderfully 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗳𝗳𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴. Each bite was satisfying, and the flavours reminded me of the classic da bao I've enjoyed in the past.

The key difference between 551 Horai and the traditional dimsum is the tiny packets of mustard sauces that they give on the side. These mustard sauce packets may be tiny but they do pack a punch. They were so strong that it cleared my blocked nose on the spot! This is an interesting twist on the traditional way of enjoying dimsum that I am used to.
