My go-to Korean restaurant in SG for the best stew

This restaurant is one of my favourite Korean food places in Singapore. Just give their dishes a taste and it’s not hard to see why. With 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙝, 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙪𝙢 𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙞𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨 (their broth takes a couple of days to make), SBCD is able to create natural tasting dishes packed full of flavor.

🍲 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐛𝐮-𝐉𝐣𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐞

The soup came in a little hot stone bowl packed with 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗳, 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗺𝘀, 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻𝘀, 𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗯. The soybean-based broth was light-tasting yet robust and flavorful. The seafood was really fresh while the tofu was super soft and silky smooth. The beef really impressed us, being super flavourful and keeping its marinated taste despite sitting in the soup. I’m definitely getting the soup with the beef the next time I come back.

The Soondubu-Jjigae also comes with rice in a hot stone bowl. You can leave it to rest to get the nice crispy claypot rice texture or you can eat it like Korean locals do and pour in some clear soup (provided by SBCD) to add a nice porridge-y texture to the rice.

🍜 𝐉𝐚𝐩𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞

We got this as part of the free item (after you spent a certain amount at SBCD) and boy were we impressed. Sweet potato starch noodles wonderfully flavored with oyster sauce and tossed with the most fragrant sesame oil I have ever tried. This had to be best Japchae I’ve had in Singapore AND in Korea. While Japchae normally comes as a free side dish in Korea, here it comes as a whole main in itself. We really appreciated the quality and effort that SBCD puts into what others commonly consider as a free side dish. I would definitely come back to SBCD just for this. My only regret is not ordering this dish the last few time I came to SBCD.

Need I say more. If you’re a fan of Korean food, Even if you’re not a fan of Korean food, you have to come down to give it a try. We noticed a difference in quality between their Tanjong Pagar and their Millennia Walk outlet so do visit their Tanjong Pagar instead!
