🎒FSI Language Courses (Beginner-Intermediate)
PDF and audio courses in 12+ languages. The only downside is the materials are mostly outdated. You don’t need the latest to learn a foundational level though, so it’s worth checking out if you can’t purchase any recent textbooks.
📕 Readlang (Intermediate-Advanced)
This site lets you practice flash cards and translate phrases. You can translate anything on a text or web page. They offer 40+ languages. There is a paid tier, but if you combine it with other resources the free version works just fine. The biggest thing with this one is it includes support for lesser known languages.
♥️ Mylanguages.org (Beginner)
An outdated looking site but it’s a great if you’re just getting started. They have a ton of languages including less popular ones. If you like to make your own flash cards you could use the info from this site.
📍YouTube (Beginner-Advanced)
This is both obvious yet not…you can find playlists of practically any language on here. If you’re an advanced learner, almost every language has a monolingual channel where someone posts conversation practice. Look up specific terms, watch dubbed cartoons, and more.
🎁 BBC News (Advanced)
Offered in an interesting choice of languages, you can look at both your native language and target language for the same article. In a way, this is like making your own bilingual reader. No need to pay for the expensive books if you’re willing to put in some elbow grease.
This is an online forum with just about every topic. You can look in the general “language learning” subreddit, but I recommend searching for Reddit + learn + your target language. This should give you the right forum. Most of the time you can get help from native speakers, ask questions and also explore their sidebar of resources.
