which bugis nail salon should you visit?

At bugis street, classic gel manicure starts at $29-30, and depending on your designs, they'll quote you additional on top of that. For this design, it was a pearl + french tip design for total $40 ($30 gel mani + $10 for the design)

How I chose which salon to go with 😗💅

1) Avoid all the stores with overly pushy sales girls🚩🚩

idk about y'all but bugis street nails section is an introvert's nightmare lmao. at one point they were pulling me into their store, to which i said it's okay, i'll take a look around first. and they kept insisting me to stay, saying "yes this design, can!" 1 lady even tried to gaslight me, she said "i saw you walk 1 round already, what are the other shops offering u?" and i was thinking lmao i see what you're doing here so i told her someone offered $40, and she couldn't beat it she said this design is at least $48 😅 then i said oh ok then its ok! and when i started walking off she said okok $38 LMAOOOO but she didn't give me the confidence that she would do a good job so 👎🏻

ALSO I saw that Victoria Beauty Salon was super crowded (there were customers sitting outside queueing for their nails to be done) and it's quite highly raved on lemon8! When i walked by, there were 2 nail techs who literally stopped serving their customers to come entertain me / try to pull me into their store. Idk about yall, but I wouldn't wanna be that customer in there doing their nails and have a distracted nail tech that keeps trying to bring business in, instead of focusing on doing a good job for me? that's why i chose to pass on Victoria Beauty despite all the glowing reviews haha

2) Come with a inspo pic prepared so that you can get a quick price quote💰

whip out your phone with the inspo pic and they'll take a quick look and tell you the price. BE CAREFUL tho ⚠️ and ask a few times to confirm, because one of the stores quoted me $28... and i was so confused becoz that was much lower than the rest and when I went back to ask, she meant $28 + base gel manicure price ($30) so total $58 lol. just make sure the price quoted is the final price before u step in!

3) If possible, check if they have the sample colour/polish that you are looking for 💅

For my pearl design, they use a special nail polish for it. The nail salon which I chose could show me the actual samples and told me roughly how she would achieve this look. This gave me the confidence that she has the skill & knowledge to achieve this look. The last thing I want is to get a cheap but ugly manicure 😂 Also!! do a brief scan of the environment to gauge the cleanliness/hygiene - towels on the floor? tools on the floor? etc.

I provided slide 3-4 as my nail inspo pic. Tbh I was really happy with it in the store, but unfortunately under natural light it has a golden/yellow undertone which i did not notice :( Not their fault at all, BUT i would still recommend this store & the nail tech - i even asked for her name card coz her service was good! She kept checking on me (eg. the aircon, cuticle clearing if it was painful, if I liked the colour, the shape of the nail etc.) ☺️
