Why I left TV news to start my own biz

I'll be honest... I was BURNT OUT.

I absolutely LOVED my job in TV news. It was creative. It was challenging. But after four years, I knew something wasn't right. I've never really fit into a specific box, and one thing I was told over and over again was that I needed to find one if I wanted to succeed.

But, the truth is... I don't WANT to fit into just one box. There are so many industries and creative outlets to explore. How could I just choose something and ignore everything else? That's what I had loved about journalism in the first place... every day there was someone new, with a new perspective, and I got to hear their story.

I knew at that point, it was time to move on - and in order to be truly happy, I'd probably have to make something up on my own.

So, I sat down and thought about the parts of my work that excited me. And ultimately it came down to these three things:

- The ability to consistently create - and in a variety of different formats

- The chance to use my brain, problem solve, and continue learning new things

- Highlighting and amplifying the people right here in my community

Family-owned businesses are the backbone of Toledo. And through my time in news, I met so many hardworking people with a dream, just like me. But, not all of them are comfortable with a camera, or they don't have the time and resources to market themselves in a way that truly highlights WHO they are.

That was it. I had my vision: to create social media content that shows small businesses in their best light, and reaches the people who matter most.

Strock Media Management, LLC has been around for a little more than a year now. And I have learned SO much in just that time frame. I grew from one client to five monthly clients who I absolutely love.
