3 Film Tips you should know 🎞️ when using your point and shoot

1. Turn on flash when you’re indoors! 📸 If you’re using a point an shoot film camera, you should turn on the flash when you’re indoors especially at night. Point and shoot cams tend to have small apertures of around F4-F8, that don’t let much light in. In order to prevent your photos to be underexposed or turn out without an image, remember to turn ur flash on. It may seem that the indoor area that you’re photographing may be well lit and bright especially under fluorescent or LED room lights. However unless you’re out doors or in direct sunlight, the film on your camera would not be sensitive enough to capture the image well! Remember, if you think it’s not bright enough, turn on your flash!! 💥📸🔥

2. The strap on your point and shoot camera tells you its minimum focusing distance 📏 Your camera strap not only helps you hold on to your camera well and reduce your fear of dropping, it also helps you gauge your minimum focusing distance of your camera. If you didn’t know already, every camera has a minimum focusing distance, which is the shortest distance the lens can focus, if you get too close the camera can’t focus and will turn up blurry. So the next time you want to take a close up, use the strap to measure how close you can get. 😜

3. Find a good Film Lab. 🥼🧪 Usually point and shoot cameras don’t come with superb lenses. They tend to rock plastic or inferior lenses than their SLR glass counterparts, so the images they produce might defer. Finding a good lab helps you get quality scans of your photos. Thought it may not seem to matter, but having good scans can go a long way. Pns lenses though plastic, it still produces good images, but having bad scans might ruin the image. If you’re wondering which labs are good, you can try Whampoa Colour Centre at Balestier or Konota at City Hall. Do call before you head down, they might take some days off haha 🎞️
