Hidden Bar behind a Mama Shop ?!

Hidden behind a MAMA Shop that use to sit under HDB blocks, Mama Diam is a retro speakeasy bar in Prinsep that offers familiar flavours inspired by local dishes but with a contemporary twist 🥡 🍸

The ambience was really good with a dark and classy setting.

• Chicken Curry Kueh Pei Tee $15.90 ⭐️ (6.5/10)

It is no ordinary pei tee , the insides are diced curry chicken that reminds me of Popo’s cooking back home topped with a creamy coconut foam ! It is filling and good , though im just never a fan of sweetness in a dish that I think should be savoury.

• Chili Crab Soft Shell Bao $18.90 ⭐️ (6/10)

⁠The soft shell crab was chunky and crispy , nicely fried. However, i expected more flavor in the chili crab sauce.

• Chicken Poached Rice w Superior Broth $28 ⭐️ (8.5/10)

Now this was something id be willing to come back for. I’m a big fan of soup and rice , the flavor was perfect really savoury and comforting especially topped with the egg floss really yum! Something id eat on a rainy day. The only disappointment I had was that the chicken portion was really small and i mean really small, i think we roughly only had 6 mini slices of chicken chunks..

• Chai Tarik Brew $20 ⭐️ (7/10)

It’s a cocktail consisting of Whiskey Amaretto & Butterscotch Pulled Tea , a unique blend which is very drinkable and easy to swallow.

I wasn’t feeling adventurous on the day but if id ever come back id love to try the Nasi Lemak cocktail & the Pisang Old Fashioned ($24) 😆🥃
