my guide to JEJU 👉🏽HERE👈🏽 🥰

Hello there! I recently traveled to Korea and I still can't get over my trip 🥹. I miss the cold weather and the amazingly cheap food!

1. TONGKUEN GALBI 🐖🥓

If you're heading to Hongdae, this is a place YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS! It was so good that we visited it TWICE!! It's a BBQ buffet for about $13 per person, and you can also choose to top up with kimchi jjigae and rice ($1), cheesy steamed egg ($3), and naengmyeon! We also topped up $6 for the ala-carte beef portion, which was pretty worth it 💸, in my opinion!!

📍Address: 40 Yonsei-ro 5da-gil, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, South Korea

2. HANBOK AND GYEONGBOKGONG PALACE 🏯!

Did you know that if you rent a hanbok, entrance to the Gyeongbokgung Palace is free🤩? That's why you'll see many locals at the palace wearing hanboks as well. Not only that, but you can take some amazing photos too 🫶🏼! There are many shops near the palace that offer hanbok rental services, and honestly, there are just too many to choose from! We found a service that includes doing your hair in a traditional braid or bun for only $7.55! We booked through KLOOK 🔗 , and it's recommended that you book early.

For those who do not want to wear a hanbok, the entrance fee to the palace is KRW 3000 ($3) for adults and KRW 1500 ($1.50) for children aged (7-18 y/o).

📍Address: 161 Sajik-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea

3. CAFE ONION ANGUK 🥐

After visiting the palace🏯, you should definitely check out Cafe Onion! They have two different locations, and we went to the one at Anguk. The cafe had a very zen vibe, and I fell in love with it. They also have a wide variety of pastries and drinks to choose from. However, try to avoid peak hours as it can get quite crowded😖. There are also many other cafes in the area (CAFE LAYERED, LONDON BAGEL 🥯 MUSEUM) , and you should definitely check them out too!

📍Address: 5 Gyedong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea

4. GONAENJI 🍲

We were lucky to stumble upon this small restaurant tucked away in a small alley 😭! The place is run by two ahjummas who were so friendly in explaining the menu. We ordered kimchi jjigae, two maggies, an egg roll, and a meat platter, which cost KRW7500 ($7.50) per person. The best part was that it came with unlimited rice! Each table also had a bottle of sesame oil to mix in with the rice. We were really full after this delicious meal 🥘 !

📍Address: 110-15 Daehyeon-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, South Korea

5. MAPO MANDU 🥟

There are a few outlets for this place. what i really LOOOOOOOOVE 🥰 is how affordable it is! Each dumpling costs about $0.10, which is EXTREMELY CHEAP 💸considering the insane quality! I believe they are open 24 hours(?!), so many locals come here to eat breakfast. We spent about KRW6000 ($6) for around 4 bowls of ramyeon and 5 trays of dumplings. It was VERY WORTH it!

📍Address: 393-1 서교동 Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea

6. LOTTE WORLD 🎢

It was such a pity that we didn't get to try all the rides. 😞 Lesson learned, get the express pass! It's really worth it unless you want to spend the whole day queueing, which is what we did... It costs about KRW49,000 ($50) for 5 express rides and KRW89,000 ($90) for 10 express rides. Here's the LINK 🔗 for the ticketing. We went on a school holiday and only managed to ride about 4 rides, so just get the express pass to avoid the queues!

7. NAMI ISLAND 🏝️ AND GANGCHON RAIL 🚂 PARK

Take a day trip to Nami Island! It's a refreshing change of scenery from the hustle of the mainland. You can either take a boat ride or a zip line to the island (I'll come back to try the zip line) 🤪. you’ll get to see many wildlife (bunnies, ducks, peacocks, ostriches) too which is pretty cool 🦚! BUT DONT PET THEM😠

📍Address: 1 Namiseom-gil, Namsan-myeon, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea

we also went to Gangchon Rail Park 🚂, which is just a 15-minute taxi ride away. We rushed there and were lucky to catch the last session! We went during sunset 🌅 and the views were breathtaking! They have many themed tunnels as well, making it quite an exciting experience!

📍Address: 1383 Gimyujeong-ro, Sindong-myeon, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea

OTHER HONOURABLE 🏅 MENTIONS:

1. PHOTOBOOTHS - They're everywhere in Korea and priced about the same! It's a very cute souvenir to bring home as well, and it's cheaper than in sg. 🙂

2. ISAAC TOAST 🥪

3. TOSOKCHON SAMGYETANG - This dish is a super popular dish in Korea! The chicken is stuffed with glutinous rice and it's located near the palace as well.

📍Address: No.5 Jahamun-ro 5-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul

4. DDP - I really loved the shape of the building! If you're interested in architecture, this is a place you can visit! They also had a small art market going on, so do keep a lookout 👀 for that.

i hope this guide helps!! really can’t wait to go back to korea!!! lmk what other places i should visit too!!
