what packing for student exchange taught me

trying to pack as much of my life into a 25kg suitcase was such an experience (spoiler i exceeded it) and taught me that i don’t need to buy and purchase so many things! here are what i’ve learnt and what you should really pack:

— not needing so many things

#storytime when packing with my limited luggage space, i considered what are considered essentials and what i will not be using for the next 5 months. i had so much makeup and skincare that were just sitting on my shelves and not been used and were almost brand new too, so i gave them away to friends as it would be a waste if i don’t use them in the next few months. now i’m trying not to buy things that i won’t really use :”)

— pack photos, things that remind you of home

homesickness is a given, so bring everything that reminds you of home to hold when you’re feeling homesick 🥺 photos and food really help a lot. find something that brings you comfort and bring it along with you! i packed my pillow for exchange and even though some say it’s unnecessary as it’s bulky, it’s a non-negotiable for me because it reminds me of home and makes me sleep a little better every night!

these are some unconventional takes on packing and what i’ve learnt so i hope you’ll just pack whatever your heart desires yea 🫶🏻 whatever brings you comfort (without exceeding the baggage limit ofc…)
