are new balance 550s worth the hype?

my old pair of nike air force 1s has served me really well for the past 2 years so i’ve been looking for a replacement for awhile now… when i saw these in stores i fell in love with them ever since 😩

here are some reasons why you SHOULD and SHOULDN’T get the new balance 550s!

pros ✅

- super cute and versatile design, great to pair with ANY outfit

- looks good sideways and front (look at the cutest toe box 🥺) aesthetics wise it just ticks all the boxes no complaints

- MOST IMPORTANTLY, price!!!!! this is way more affordable than the usual retail $159/$169 and resellers at around $200++ you can get the junior version at footlocker for much cheaper at $129 which is such a good deal for an everyday pair of sneakers! btw junior doesn’t mean the sizing is extra small okay! im a usual eu38 and bought us7 and these fit me super well 🫶🏻

cons ❌ none.. lmao okay i’m gonna be honest here alright

- not the most comfortable, quite stiff when i wore them the first few times

- ngl the tongue of this shoe is somehow rlly hard and it hurts the base of my toes :( but it might be because i haven’t conditioned it yet!

but!! after wearing it for a few times, the pain is slowly reducing and i feel that the shoes overall became softer and much more comfortable than when i first tried them on. overall, i must say that nike air force 1s are still the most comfortable shoes i have ever tried, but if you want a new pair of aesthetic white sneakers for something different, the new balance 550s are definitely a worthy purchase and i can definitely see mine being worn a lot for the next few years to come <3
