your ultimate langkawi food guide 🌺

i don’t think good food really comes to mind when anyone mentions langkawi… and true enough, it is hard to find good reccos because it seems like all the same places are being mentioned and reviewed on lemon8. 😪

but, armed with a car and google maps, my friend and i went around exploring cafes and restaurants for a day and had some pretty good food finds. 🍝🥘

i’ll be reviewing the places i visited according to how i rate them from best 💓 to mediocre. 🥸

1. ngopi pantai (9.5/10)

this was collectively mine and my friend’s favourite food stop. nestled rather deep in by the beach, you get to sit facing the ocean while soaking in the sun. ☀️ i ordered a piccolo latte ☕️ and my friend ordered an iced vanilla latte.🥤we also got a cinnamon roll to share. 🥐 the coffees were delicious and cinnamon roll wasn’t too sweet. i loved loved loved the vibes of the place and would 100% go back again.

within that same area, there are other food establishments where you can order proper food and get drinks. 🍷🍺🍹honestly quite an ideal place to chill for a full day, read a book, talk and get wasted. they also offer beach activities there but it’s overpriced so i wouldn’t recommend.

2. deli bee seafood restaurant (9/10)

you know when you go to certain chinese restaurants or chinese weddings and they serve this steamed fish that has this sweet yummy soupy sauce? that’s what this place offers at market price (we paid only 9rm for the fish). i normally am not a fan of fish at all but this was different. we absolutely demolished the fish from the bones. 🐟😋

the milo we got was super gao (just the way i like it), the kangkong was very yummy and the uncle who ran the restaurant was super friendly. 🥰 i liked the very warm family restaurant vibes of this place. only thing we didn’t like was the tom yum soup that we ordered (it was too fishy for our liking). but aside from that, sticking to the chinese food would be a safe bet! 👍🏻

3. smiling buffalo (9/10)

okay so this one i’ve seen in many recommendations on lemon8 and i do think it’s worth the hype. it’s hard to find a place that serves up a solid basil pesto pasta and this one was pretty damn good. 🌿 the vibes of this place are really chill, perfect for a nice lunch! 🍝 i liked their milkshake as well but the tiramisu cake that we got was quite lacking so maybe don’t get that…

4. seayoubythebay restaurant/bar (8.5/10)

generally the establishments in langkawi are quite underdeveloped but this wasn’t one of those. there’s a pool with sun beds and both an inner and outer sitting area. 🏖️ unfortunately, since my friend and i were hopping from place to place, all we tried were the fruit ice blendeds from this place which were really good! for how nice the place is, i’d say it’s very affordably priced and it looks like an extremely ideal location to spend a full day at for beach club vibes. ☀️🍹

5. pause cafe (8/10)

the croffle w vanilla ice cream we got was really solid, perfect crispiness and texture. 😋🍦coffee was pretty good too and the vibe of this place was super cozy. with how the place looks, you could be curled up with a book in one of their couch seats and that would fit the ambience perfectly. 📖🪔 minus points because while the staff were friendly, they were also slightly dense. 🥸

6. hidden langkawi (6.5/10)

saw this place a lot on lemon8… went to try and was disappointed. if you go there expecting the sort of beach club vibe you get in bali/phuket, you’d find the reality quite far off… the food pricing was definitely more pricey than other places which i felt was quite L. 😪 was the food good? it was alright, decent. my friend and i both felt that for the price paid, it could have been a better experience. if you want a nice beach bar type beat, just go to seayoubythebay. 😌🏖️
