TRANSPORT IN GREECE ISLANDS⛴️🚌

1️⃣Ferry

As mentioned in my first post, do download 📱FerryHopper📱to avoid the long queues at the physical ticket booth! Also, try to purchase your tickets IN ADVANCE! However, do take note that the ferry timings ⚠️MIGHT CHANGE⚠️ if you were to purchase in advance. Not to worry though, the timings will not change by that much. For us, our ferry’s timing was changed by about 15mins only!

Be prepared for delays in your ferry timings on the day itself! It can go up to 1 or 2 hours delay! It is very common‼️There is nothing we can do to avoid it but wait🥲

Do take note that the gate number where you will board your ferry at may not be written down if you purchase your tickets online‼️You can just approach the staff at any physical ticket booth and ask for the gate information, as well as the ferry’s eta. However, you will also be able to track the ferry’s location and its eta from the FerryHopper app itself😌 Do take the eta on the app as a pinch of salt though, as it may not be very accurate. For us, the app told us that our ferry would reach at about 2.45pm, but it actually arrived at 1.30pm!🤩

Also, the crowd is crazy😭 Just be mentally prepared for that! Most importantly, ‼️REACH EARLY‼️

Other than that, you are all ready to board the ferry⛴️

2️⃣Bus

There is a bus terminal at the centre of the island. For Santorini, it is at Fira. For Mykonos, it is at Fabrika.

In each bus terminal, there would be a physical booth for you to get information/buy tickets. It works differently in each island‼️

For Santorini, the booth is only there for you to ℹ️ASK FOR INFORMATIONℹ️ Tickets are to be purchased from the bus drivers at the respective buses itself! They are 💥NOT purchased💥 from the booth. One thing to prepare for is the disorganised mess. They do not label their destination at the front of the bus, and there are also no bus numbers to differentiate from the different buses‼️ HEAR FOR THEIR 📣ANNOUNCEMENT📣 The drivers will shout out their destinations, so do try to hear whatever the drivers are shouting! ⚠️TRY NOT TO MISS THE BUS⚠️ as the bus timings are probably 1hour or 30mins apart. (Swipe to pic2 and 3 for Santorini’s bus routes and schedule) The bus schedule might not be accurate, but they do pin their bus timings on the board that is located to the 💥right of the booth💥 in Fira.

For Mykonos, you purchase the tickets FROM THE BOOTH‼️ Show your tickets to the drivers and you are ready to go. Here, they do label their destinations at the front of the buses🙂 Google “Mykonos Bus Schedule” and click the first link for bus timings!
