I need landscaping help!

We have three different flower beds that I am desperately needing help on. One flower bed is shaded most of the day, one flower bed gets morning sun and the last bed gets afternoon sun. I am wanting plants that are very low maintenance and stay low to the ground.

Also do you prefer rocks or mulch?
