Post-birth control symptoms like acne, heavy periods, missing periods, weight gain, fertility issues and mood swings are NOT fun 🙅🏽‍♀️

Thankfully, there are a few key ways to support your body’s transition off the pill. Ideally you would start implementing these habits ~3 months ahead of time but they can also be implemented after you stop taking HBC. These tips can also be helpful to support your body if you decide to continue taking birth control.

1️⃣Support your liver. One role of the liver is to detox excess estrogen. If estrogen is not properly metabolized, it can recirculate in the body. Eating enough of each macronutrient (protein, fat and carbs) is the first step to ensure your liver is getting the fuel it needs to run smoothly.

2️⃣Balance your minerals. Magnesium, sodium, potassium, selenium and zinc can all become depleted with birth control use and cause issues like bloating, fatigue, constipation, acne, blood sugar issues, anxiety and irritability. HTMA is a wonderful tool whether you are currently on or recently off birth control. Check out my bio for more information on this functional lab test.

3️⃣Replenish nutrient deficiencies like vitamin A (egg yolks, dairy), vitamin C (citrus, bell peppers) and b vitamins (bee pollen, grass-fed beef liver).
