Cardio has many great benefits to your heart and overall health. Recently in the gym community cardio has had a bad reputation of leading to muscle loss, but is that true of all forms of cardio? Did you know that if done correctly cardio can be ANABOLIC or muscle building instead of CATABOLIC or muscle wasting! Here are my top 3 favorite types of anabolic cardio⬇️
1. High rep circuit style
Recently I’ve started to end my workouts with higher rep circuits. I absolutely love it! Some movements I do: sled push, walking lunges, kettlebell squats, kettlebell swings, etc.
2. Stairmaster
Instead of doing long stairmaster sessions, opt for sprints or higher intensity work for shorter time periods. This can be anywhere from 5-20 mins!
3. Sprints
I LOVE sprints for doing cardio & building muscle! You don’t have to do running sprints either; you can do stairmaster or bike sprints as well. My favorite type of sprinting is all-out effort for 20-30 seconds, followed by 2 mins of walking & repeat for 5 sets.
