The BEST Chengdu Street Food 👇🏽

Chengdu is named the international foodie capital and that is not without reason. Every single day I was touring here, I felt like I was eating like a Queen. Here are just a few of my favorites (because it’d be way to hard to choose!):

1️⃣ Sesame Balls

Sesame balls are very traditional & Chengdu is known to make some of the largest balls! To eat these, either mash it with your chopsticks or ask your server for help in cutting it into bite size pieces for the table.

2️⃣ Rabbit Head

Rabbit head is considered a delicacy in Sichuan and although it may be off putting at first, I have to admit, it was pretty tender. Wall Street actually announced one year that of the 200 million rabbit tons produced annually, 30% of that comes to China & 70% of THAT goes to Chengdu.

3️⃣ Spicy Tofu

Mapo Tofu makes the BEST spicy tofu. I honestly have never loved tofu more in my life than this moment because of that restaurant. Typical Sichuan-style is very spicy, but the blends in this dish were out of this world.

4️⃣ Butterfly Candy

Butterfly Candy (or whichever animal you land on when spinning at the street stand) is a fun way to grab a sweet treat when strolling through the shops and stands downtown. It’s made with rice and sugar, but, reminded me of a campfire marshmallow.
